The perfume of the evening is Laurent Mazzone's Sensual and Decadent. It is quite possibly the sweetest perfume I've ever worn. Toothachingly so. Vanilla, yes, which I adore, but there is some fruitiness in there too, possibly the rhubarb which is a listed note. Rhubarb, heavy cream, vanilla, honey, some sweet booze, and pounds of sugar to ensure no tart aftertaste. Somehow though it doesn't read as overly foodie, however.
I am almost embarrassed to admit I love sweet perfumes, and yes, I like this quite a bit as well. I suspect that I would not want to be immersed in a cloud of this sugar bomb, but it is a scent I definitely enjoy in moderation. I need to seek out LM's sister scent Sensual Orchid.
While I huff my gloriously delicious wrist, I am also quaffing a quite contrasting brew: Ale Asylum's experimental Spawn series #19. We picked up a growler at the brewery on our way back from delivery our holiday visitors to the airport on Monday.
#19 is a beautiful, slightly cloudy light lemony yellow in appearance, perhaps betraying it's hefty 7.3% ABV. It's got an almost tropical mix of hops going on: Nugget, the uber-trendy Mosaic, and Denali. I'm enjoying it very much and hope to see something more permanent along this way added to Ale Asylum's already somewhat hop-heavy line-up.
